In an effort to reduce their footprint, and thus their expenses, Baldwin County Solid Waste contracted Gulf Services to grind vegetative material at the Magnolia Landfill. Utilizing the Diamond Z Vegetative Grinder, Gulf Services reduced vegetative material like brush, lumber, and other organic matter by 75%.
Just five days of material grinding provided numerous benefits for the Magnolia landfill:
- Created mulch to retain on-site for erosion control
- Added organic matter to the soil to aid decomposition
- Reduced cost for removal to other locations
- Conserved availabe space to hold other materials
Because the grinding was completed on-site, Baldwin County reduced the liability of trucks moving throughout the property to haul away material. The project also helped to mitigate their environmental impact, and ultimately, costs associated with handling vegetative material.
